The Next Phase

It's been ages since I've last blogged regularly (give it probably 10 years), and it's about time I get going on this again.  I've actually created this one quite some time back but failed to upload anything on it.

Seeing as it's a brand new year (not really though, it's almost end January), I've decided to pick up blogging once more, although not really as a resolution 'cos I always don't keep to them.  I'm turning 26 this year, throwing away the teenage years, and entering adulthood.  I have things going on now, compared to my school days, where life was just about waking up, heading to school, studying, and attempting to get good grades passes.

First off, I am now a full-fledged Physiotherapist, working in an acute hospital in Singapore.  I've gotten my Diploma in 2011, and then went on to graduate from the Trinity of College Dublin (SIT) just last year, in 2014.  Although working life can be pretty mundane at times, I'm glad that at least I am able to interact with people (patients, healthcare workers, colleagues, etc) in my job scope.  As of now, my target in 2015 would be to hone up my skills in the ICU setting, as well as to learn how to be a good clinical educator to Physiotherapy students (which is sooo difficult tbh!).

I've been an avid fan of KPOP since probably 2009, and started covering on Youtube in 2011.  Till now, I'm still actively doing covers and collaborating with fellow coverists in the community and am actually still enjoying this hobby (to my utmost surprise).  If you'd like to take a listen to what I do, please check it out at:

Ever since I've started at my job, I've been travelling quite a bit.  I used to believe that going on vacations are a waste of money ('cos you kinda enjoy it for that short period of time and then you go broke after that) but after working, I found out that it's pretty enjoyable and worth the money spent.  I'm not well-travelled at all, still learning loads of things with every vacation I plan, but I hope it'd built up my own independence.  Since the start of my job, I've travelled to Vietnam, Hong Kong, China, Korea, & Europe (during my 1-year degree course).  Next up on my list would be Japan (end March 2015), and I'll definitely keep this blog updated with my travels then!

And.. on the 23rd of December 2014, I've finally gotten myself a puppy from the Pasir Ris Pet Farm Kennel 9 (House of Pups)!  It's an apricot Maltipoo (Maltese x Poodle).  I initially named him Noel, but decided to change it to Gin (short for Gingerbread).  He was born on the 25th of September, and as of today, he'll be 4 months 4 days old.

Gin & his brother (:

After having Gin for about a week or so, we decided to send him for full grooming at MasMasGroomers, who did a really fab job at it.  He looks REALLY naked at his paws 'cos my mom asked them to shave off everything ('cos he kept stepping on his pee and poo and it was really unhygienic).

First day home, Gin was pretty scared most of the time, he was trembling when I placed him on our kitchen floor, although after which, he warmed up and started running around like crazy.  As advised by the breeder, we kept Gin mostly in his cage with the peetray occupying half the cage.  First night, he kept whining and barking, so I had to drag his cage to my room and wake up periodically to calm him down.  Interestingly enough, he seemed fine from the 2nd night onwards.

I initially allowed him out to run in the kitchen but I decided to limit his boundaries even further 'cos he kept peeing/pooping anywhere and biting/chewing things (and us).  He's most calm only when we hold him (although he's starting to struggle a little bit more now).

As of now, Gin has pretty much learnt how to sit and wait (short durations) during feeding times, and give us the paw when we ask for it (also only during feeding times).  He still barks a lot when my Mom and I get home ('cos he wants to play) and it's been worrying us a lot since it'd be a nuisance to the neighbours.  We're planning to do training with Gin so hopefully things will get much better.

Being a first-time owner is anything but easy.  I worry so much, and am always at a loss as to what to do and so on.  This blog also pose as an outlet to which I can update on Gin's growth and see myself grow as an owner as well.

Hopefully, I'll be able to keep up this habit of blogging regularly with regards to the above mentioned.  God bless 2015 (:
